Operation Quench Drink mixes for Soldiers in the field
Go to your local grocery store or dollar store, load up on drink mixes. The small cans that contain 6 tubs that makes 2 Qts. each, or the small boxes that contain the packets that make 1 Pt. each are the easiest to ship. As long as they will fit in the shipping box you should have no trouble. Fill up a flat-rate box from the post office, and ship all you want for one price.

Operation Sweet Tooth
While you are in the Grocery store, pick up a couple of large bags of hard candies, bubble gum pops, packs of gum, and lollipops. Grab a couple of bags each time you are in the store, and when you get enough, send a box full to:

Pennies For Heroes
This is a perfect idea for large groups of kids, whether it be School Classes, Sunday Schools, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. Have the kids save all the pennies and loose change they can find for a month. Make it a contest with prizes for the child who brings in the most change.
Pool all the change together and turn it in to the facilitator, who can then get a money order ready to send to: Pennies for Heroes, C/O Soldiers' Angels, 1792 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena, CA., 91104
Pennies for Heroes and other donations pay for shipping of packages, backpacks, care packages, and gift packages to the troops, both in the field and in hospitals.

Holiday Cards for the Troops
A good project for School classes, Sunday Schools, Scout Troops, or Auxiliary clubs would be sending cards and letters to the Troops. Have the group write several boxes of letters to soldiers titled "Dear Soldier" on the front of the envelope. Write up as many as you can with just the title "Merry Christmas from Home."
You can pick up Christmas cards most of the year through card shops, and department stores. They may have to look through their seasonal storage, but they are, most likely, there. See if you can find some stores or card shops that might still have Christmas cards stuck back in storage from last year. Make them an offer to take some of them off their hands.
It's never too early to start with the holiday cards. If you have a school class of 30, and you were able to write 10 cards per month, you would have 3,600 cards ready to ship when the time comes.
Do the same with Valentine Cards, Easter Cards, Birthday Cards or whatever you can find. Blank note cards are good, too. Write the letter or card, then put it in the envelope, but don't seal it. They will be checked before being sent, either here or at the destination. You might want to put blank note cards with envelopes into the box. Throw in a book of stamps into each case. Do not address the envelopes.
BE WARNED: No one has the time to play around with letters or cards that are unfit. Just one inappropriate letter or card in the box and the whole box of cards and letters may be destroyed. Enough said.
Put all the letters and cards in a USPS flat-rate box and ship it to: "Letters from Home", C/O Soldiers' Angels, 1792 E. Washington Blvd., Pasadena, CA., 91104
